Hey Suzie Satnav! Load up yer “in 700 yards, take the second exit”, cos we’re heading for Guildford!
87 roundabouts later: The Boileroom, an incongruously cool pub/club/noodlebar in the middle of suburbia. We get set up, play a bit, and eat noodles, then decide we’re going to do some sightseeing and walk to the Cathedral. It doesn’t seem to get any nearer, so we give up and find an incongruously atmospheric old pub instead. I have a beer called Tea. Clive buys Minstrels from a crank-handled Minstrels dispenser.
Back at the venue, 8-Fold are ripping it up. They do an extremely funny tribute to Richard Whiteley. We squeeze into our polyester gigwear and bludgeon the young crowd into liking us.
Suzie takes us home via the dark and empty backroads.
